Planting
Planting usually starts around May 6th... We need 16 workers for two days a week for about four weeks ( total of about 8 to 10 days of work) these are 10 to 12 hour days pay is $12.00/hr. Our work force is usually made up of mostly college students and some older high school students and a few out of school adults. We work for the Red Hen Turf Farm so most of our work is in the New Carlisle area, but we sometimes travel to other areas. Most workers sit and quickly place tomato plants into the planter. Workers can alternate to walking jobs also.
Harvesting
In tomato harvesting we need 3 or 4 workers every day for 8 to 10 hours from around august 10 through Oct. 10th (over 50 days in a row) we start at 7:30 EST, workers can help pick their own weekly schedule, and we do have room for high school aged workers on the weekends. Workers stand at a conveyor belt and sort out good and bad tomatoes. The pay is the same as planting.
